In order to ensure good quality yields, it is necessary to supply calcium to the plant, as it is essential in the physiological processes involved in the production of fruit. Without it tissues will die, resulting in disorders such as bitter pit in apples; blossom-end-rot in tomato, paprika and melon; scorching of the edges of lettuce leaves; crack-out percentage in macadamia; internal browning and skin finish in potatoes; and creasing in citrus.
