Omnia is fully committed to the safety and health of all its people, as well as the environment. Because of this, the Group adheres to international standards as well as local guidelines and initiatives. One such example is the EnviNOx® plant which reduces harmful emissions into the air.
OmniBio™ is another of our initiatives to benefit the environment: the soil environment which is the lifeblood of our farmers. An OmniBio™ analysis focuses on the major biological indicators found in the soil and includes identification and quantification of soil organisms such as bacteria, fungi, enzymes and nematodes.
Imbalances in either fungi or bacteria may lead to pathogenic micro-organisms dominating the soil, causing plant stress and disease. A healthy microbial balance puts population pressure on the pathogens, resulting in a more suppressive soil for a healthy crop.
Should an OmniBio™ analysis reveal deficiencies in either of these microbial groups, a range of specially formulated products are available to restore the balance.
Enzyme and nematode analyses further enable farmers to manage the health of the organisms in their soil more efficiently, improving the performance of their crops and reducing their production risks.
Being in the farming business for more than 60 years, we understand that applying fertilizer incorrectly can have disastrous consequences, not only on the quality and yield of the crop, but also for the environment. This is why Omnia promotes the responsible use of fertilizer by making sure that the right nutrients, in the right form, at the right rate is applied using the right method of application. This 4-R nutrient stewardship programme is a world-wide movement that aims to ensure economic, environmental and socially sustainable crop nutrition.
Caring for the environment that sustains us is an important part of our Nutriology® concept, as this will ensure the sustainability of our farmers now and in the future.
